Sumamry of Game station lesson

A summary of our particapation in the Game station lesson. In having played at each of the several station's my decision has been made that the most educational beneficial game suitable for my chossen age range 7-11 is the X-box kinect. The reason for this decision is that it required good gross motor skills and co-ordination. It was found to be the most engaging game umoung the students, essential for children in key stage 2. If pupils were to work through the game in pairs there is a massive range for competition between pairs, arousing for pupils. The particular adventure game within the x-box required team skills to enquire and depict the game in order to progress through particular levels. Such skills are to use a compass to locate aspects and goals of the games. Co-operation is paramount between the games to be able to achieve objectives. If there is a lack of team work high scores or progression through the game is an impossible goal.

Here is an example of some of the benefits game consoles hold within the education facility.

Creating a game.

Here is a game i created based on the idea of a person being stuck on a desert island. In order to survive he needs water and fruit. To be able to survive this tragedy he also needs to avoid godly things such as snakes, spiders and TNT bombs. In order to work the game you need to use the arrow keys to navigate. HAVE A GO!!! The educational game: Privates

In having just played this educational game which is aimed to teach children above the age of 14 the effects and severity of sexually transmitted diseases through a game. it does this by allowing the gamer to take the role of a team of fighter's who are inside the organs fighting off these horrid infections. I found the game to be intriguing along with educational. In having said that the game does lack variety and after a short period of time it became very predictable.

The connection between a 'social dilema powerpoint' and gaming!

The topic of this blog as titled is The connection between a 'social dilemma powerpoint' and gaming! The powerpoint gives the reader a scenario in which can happen in day to day life. It then paints a picture of a positive/negative situation for the person to deal with. Their actions will thus affect the outcome. An example of this is finding £100 on the floor; do you keep it? or do you hand it in? A game in which does this in a similar way is 'Fallout 3'. It allows the gamer to decide what happens at given scenarios throughout the course of gameplay. 'You’ll spend about an hour and a half in Vault 101, making friends, fighting bullies, struggling with moral decisions and completing tutorials.'(a review by Games radar -http://www.gamesradar.com/fallout-3-review/) It allows the player freedom to make decisions, as they would in daily life. This is uncharacteristic to other games as you have to follow a set path in which will lead to a end product. There is a connection between problem solving as well as decision making. As closely linked as they may be, i feel that problem solving tends to be a great aspect of gaming. As the player had to discover the correct paths and strategies to be able to continue through various levels of the game. Similar in the scenario depicted by the 'Dilemma powerpoint', the player wants the best possible outcome of the option chosen. I feel it is not about the immediate positive action but long term happiness.

Opinion of Gaming

There is a wide variation of Gaming. The most common of which being Game consoles which consist of the x-box and playstation. They are appealing to not only children but adults alike. I have a possitive outlook on the whole idea of gaming. I myself have a playstation in which i use occasionally. The idea of playing a game in which your character starts off as an immigrant who has no money and accomadation; becomes a multi-millionair through you choosing the criminal path he takes is very intreguing. The life-like scenarios allow the gamer to relate to a particular situation or even desire a particular lifestyle. The game in which i am speaking on in Grand Theft Auto in which is currently the greatest selling game. Another game in which people tend to enjoy in call of duty as of its close relations to conflict worldwide it gives people the insight of what happens in terms of tactics and plans during warfare. The idea of playing online with your friends is highly arousing as everyone has a competative edge. I feel as though the idea of progressing and being 'better' than your friends on a particular game is possitive for most. In having stated that i am occasionally a gamer, i find myself for only being able to play a game for an hour at a time as i have a short attention span. I'am a very outdoors person as i am a competative mountain bike enthusiast.
